Lumora Rising is a small workshop in Izmir, Türkiye, where about seventy women make Christmas stockings, holiday home pieces, and year-round accessories by hand. For most of the women, this work is the first income they have earned for themselves.

The Lumora Rising ladies started the shop in 2020, founded by Başak Çelik, a Fulbright scholar and educator turned social entrepreneur. Her goal was to create dignified work for the women of İzmir, empowering them to use their skills to create a source of income, community, and pride. At the beginning, the ladies focused on Christmas stockings, each hand-knit from the traditional Bernat candle-and-tree pattern, with a name knit into the cuff. To this day, the Lumora Rising ladies are committed to their craft, creating the pieces in the same manner as their mothers and grandmothers—slowly, by hand, to last decades. In 2025 alone, the ladies produced over 3,500 stockings for families throughout the United States.

Over the years, their dedication to high-quality artisanship has empowered the brand to expand its offerings to include holiday pillowcases, handbags, and more.
